Winter festival on the frozen Khalti Lake

The Ghizer district of Gilgit-Baltistan is nicknamed "the Land of Lakes". Perhaps the most popular lake is situated in Khalti valley, named Khalti Lake. Due to the cold temperature, this beautiful lake freezes in the Winter as a thick layer of ice replaces the fresh water.

In recent years the local organization, supported by the government, has begun organizing a Winter festival on the frozen Khalti Lake that has become increasingly popular with each year. The festival includes skating, ice hockey, musical programs, and other recreational activities for people of all ages and genders.

The expected date of this year's Khalti Lake Festival is from the 9th to the 11th of January.

Pakistan Tourist Attractions

Since my childhood to adult age, I’ve been hearing from people about my country Pakistan, that it has huge potential, including 5 kind of weathers, 6 kind of beaches, agricultural lands, highest mountains, roof of the world, oldest civilization, all the minerals and resources, heritage and different cultures.

So I decided to create a picture of those voices to showcase Pakistan to the world, what we actually have and how many undiscovered areas we still have to explore.

Since last year our visa policy has been change and we are visa-free for many countries. We also have Visa-on-Arrival for other countries and also an e-visa service. After struggling for many years, tourists are finally coming bac to our country.

As a traveller, whenever I visit other countries, the first thing I search for is a Tourist Map. However, when I was looking for tourist maps of Pakistan, I did not find much of them helpful or interesting, so I decided to take the initiative and make a Pakistan Tourist Map myself.

It took 8 consecutive days to create this High resolution Pakistan Tourist Attraction Map which represents the overall beauty of Pakistan in terms of Nature, Architecture and Infrastructure. I hope this Map can helps to many travel lovers like me.

Offering a Full Welcoming Space

The origin of the word “travel” is most likely lost to history. The term “travel” may originate from the Old French word travail.[3] According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, the first known use of the word travel was in the 14th century. It also states that the word comes from Middle English travailen, travelen (which means to torment, labor, strive, journey) and earlier from Old French travailler (which means to work strenuously, toil). In English we still occasionally use the words travail and travails, which mean struggle. According to Simon Winchester in his book The Best Travelers’ Tales (2004), the words travel and travail both share an even more ancient root: a Roman instrument of torture called the tripalium (in Latin it means “three stakes”, as in to impale). This link reflects the extreme difficulty of travel in ancient times.
